Chanunpa - Sacred Ceremonial Pipe

The Legend tells us that White Buffalo Calf Woman brought the Chanupa (Holy Pipe) to the Native American Indians.

Traditionaly these Holy Pipes were made out of Catlinite, for American Indians this red Stone is the Blood of Mother Earth.

When the C'anunpa is smoked and passed during a Ceremonie there is no place for dishonor or lies, it's a great honor to be invited.

These carving Stones are very easy to work with to create your own Traditional C'anunpa.

Utah Pipestone is a little harder and more durable then Minnesota Pipestone, a 2 to 2 1/2 on the hardness scale.

2 Buffalo hair strings with Pheasant feathers, Deer hide fringe,

a Buffalo bone pipe and Crow beads.

Unique to this kind of Stems is that the mouth piece can be used as Bowl entry

if it would be broken by accident.
